Araucanas, or the Easter Egg Chicken as they are commonly referred to, lay eggs in many shades of blue, green and pink. With the array of color these birds bring, in their feathering as well as their eggs, they make a favorite to add to any flock.

The Wyandotte was developed in New York in the 1880’s. It was first called the “American Seabright”. They are a heavier breed with the hens laying medium brown eggs. They are a popular backyard bird, and make beautiful show birds.

An Asiatic bird, the Light Brahma is a very large, feather legged bird. They lay brown eggs and are a very docile bird. We also carry them in bantam size.

Cuckoo Marans are a quiet and docile bird known for the large, deep chocolate brown colored eggs they lay. They are originally from France and are similar in coloring to the Plymouth Barred Rock. Marans generally take well to free ranging and are also disease-resistant. Due to having a small flock, orders will be limited to 25 birds per order.

The Delaware is a great dual purpose bird. Developed in the state of Delaware in the 1940's, they are a rapid growing bird that was used as a meat bird until the Cornish Cross came along. They are single combed and mostly white with barred feathering around the neck and tail. They are excellent layers of brown eggs. The hens will grow to about 6 1/2 lbs and the rooster will get up to 8 - 8 1/2 lbs.

The Polish are a crested bird of European descent. They are a smaller non-setting breed that produce medium white eggs. Their cotton ball top make them a vary interesting conversation piece from day old chick to adult size.

Saipan Jungle fowl were brought to the United States after World War II by B.W. Saylor who studied the bird throughout his life. Saipans are known for their large size and beauty. Although slow to mature, males can reach heights of three feet. Males are mostly black breasted and hen are wheaten in color, but these colors can vary. Hens lay medium creamy colored eggs. They are not prolific layers. Birds are intelligent and can be quite tame with their owners. Birds can be fed normal poultry rations. Whole grains are not recommended. Saipans tend to thrive when given fruits and they enjoy fish based dry cat food.

The Welsummer is a cold hardy bird of Holland descent. Bred in the early 1900's, the hens are partridge type coloring while the roosters are darker with a rustic red-orange saddle on their back. They lay a darker brown egg with some speckled pigments on the shell. Welsummers are a good breed to have around the yard. They are friendly, docile and excellent foragers. The hens average 6 lbs., while the rooster will average 7 lbs.
